OYAIDE INS-SP Stainless Steel Spike Support Insulator (Set of 4)
*This product comes in a set of 4 spike supports. Please purchase 2 sets if you are using it for a pair of stereo speakers.

[High-rigidity stainless steel spike support/insulator that can be used alone or combined with INS-BS or INS-US]
The advantage of installing audio equipment with spikes is that it efficiently suppresses the propagation of vibrations at the point contact between the equipment and the floor, improving the sound response, S/N ratio, and resolution.

When using spikes, spike supports are usually used to prevent damage to the floor surface, but it is known that the physical properties of the spike support also have a significant impact on sound quality.

In addition, spike supports must meet two essential conditions. They must have high dimensional accuracy and be made of a highly rigid material that can withstand a single point load.

If the dimensional accuracy of the spike support is low, gaps will occur between the spikes, causing the equipment to wobble and preventing the point contact from functioning properly.
Even with spike supports with low rigidity, the point contact area will be gouged under the load, causing the equipment to wobble. Wood/resin materials, as well as copper alloys and aluminum, are surprisingly weak against a single point load, and sharp spikes will gouge the point contact area, making the point contact incomplete and adversely affecting sound quality. Wood/stone materials are also prone to chipping and cracking, making them less reliable as spike supports.

Oyaide Electric has the know-how to select the best material for the intended item and process it using the optimal method.

In order to establish a material and processing method that combines the sound quality, dimensional accuracy, and rigidity required for a spike support, we repeatedly considered and listened to various materials, and the "INS-SP" was created.

■High-precision cutting of SUS303 stainless steel, a high-rigidity material ideal for spike supports, using computer control

The SUS303 used in the "INS-SP" shows superior characteristics compared to other metals, making it the ideal high-rigidity material for spike supports.

The "INS-SP" has the high dimensional accuracy and high rigidity required for a spike receiver, thanks to the high-precision cutting of stainless steel by computer control. This allows perfect point contact with the spikes without rattling or deformation.

■Resistant to corrosion such as rust, with a semi-glossy hairline finish
The SUS303 stainless steel used in the "INS-SP" has a strong passive film (a film made of Cr and O) formed on the surface, making it resistant to corrosion such as rust and maintaining its beautiful appearance for a long time. In addition, SUS303 stainless steel is non-magnetic and has no adverse effects on your equipment due to magnetism. The surface of the "INS-SP" has a semi-glossy hairline finish. It blends in seamlessly with your system, while creating a casual, chic, luxurious look.

■Ensures the depth of the recess that allows the spikes to be fitted in accurately
The "INS-SP" has a recess depth of 2 mm and a diameter of 8.8 mm for fitting the spikes, ensuring sufficient strength, fit, and visibility. This makes it easier to see the recesses during installation and to insert the spikes. In addition, even if the device is subjected to a lateral impact, the spikes will not come out of the recesses and have a stable fit. Furthermore, the angle of the recess is 130 degrees, and it is compatible with a wide range of spikes, not only with sharp angles of 90 degrees or less, but also with obtuse angles up to about 120 degrees.

■Reversible design that can be used not only as a spike holder but also as a small insulator
The "INS-SP" is coin-sized and easy to handle, and is reversible so that it can be used not only as a spike holder but also as a small insulator. Just because it is small does not mean that there is any compromise in sound quality. By using the "INS-SP", you can increase the sense of density while obtaining the tight and straight tone that only a hard material can provide.

■Further sound quality tuning is possible when combined with INS-BS
The "INS-SP" is designed as a spike receiver with a diameter of 20 mm that can be fitted into the multi-base insulator "INS-BS", so you can further tune the sound quality by combining it with "INS-BS". For example, when combining, the tone changes depending on whether the "INS-SP" is placed on the floor side or the equipment side. You can enjoy various settings, including tuning with 3-point support and 4-point support.
